International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA)
Creating a definitive source of information about the Holocaust
Impact
The IHRA’s reimagined website makes it a go-to information source on subjects relating to the Holocaust.
Its rich library of content is easy to navigate and simple to manage, and builds trust in the organisation.
Powerful storytelling drives engagement and helps the IHRA deliver on its important mission.
A clear content strategy means the IHRA can now produce better content in less time.

Client
The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), an intergovernmental organisation structured like the UN. Its mission is to protect the memory of the Holocaust and help build a world without genocide.
My role
I led on content design and content strategy, working with the brilliant designers and developers at MakeGood design.
The original website had an overwhelming amount of content linked from each page, so users often got lost on their journey.
Challenge
Reigning in the content sprawl
As an intergovernmental organisation dedicated to protecting the memory of the Holocaust, the IHRA deals with challenging and sensitive subjects. The IHRA website offers a huge library of resources for diverse groups of users, such as policymakers.
The legacy website was overwhelming, a warren of dense information that users struggled to navigate and engage with. All the pages looked the same, and users were often faced with the dreaded wall of text.
With no real content strategy in place, the IHRA’s comms team found the enormous site difficult to update, and creating new content was a slow and painful process.
It was time to start from scratch.
Our three key content goals:
Intuitive navigation
Accessible and engaging content
Simpler site management
